Almost four years ago, I fell in love for the first time--twenty-five years too late--and began an affair. Over the years, Kevin and I have met several times a week and email several times a day. I have kept almost all of the emails that I sent to him and that he sent to me. Along the way, there has been laughter and tenderness and heat...and heartache.

This blog is the posting of our daily emails. It chronicles the lives of two people over a four year period so far, and tells the story of our burgeoning love against the backdrop of New York City.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent; the rest is 100% real.

The daily update structure helps keep the blog as authentic as possible as well as living up to its title. It also strives to provide the reader with the kind of pleasure that a soap opera offers--a daily dose of voyeuristic fun.

Please begin at the beginning, otherwise, little will make sense.

Enjoy.

Meet & Kiss

Here we go! The weather is unfortunate but it won’t dampen my enthusiasm. I am glad we got chat working last night. I wouldn’t have otherwise learned of chocolate whipped cream. Does it come in a spray can?

I am wearing dark blue pants and a blue striped shirt. I will probably have a windbreaker on. I am wearing gray boots and carrying a briefcase. I may be holding a blue and white golf umbrella.

The restaurant’s name is da Umberto. 107 W. 17, near the Rubin.

Did you keep my cell number?

See you at 1.

Actually, it’s just like any other whipped cream in a can, just chocolate : ) Thanks for the description. I’m sure I’ll find you. Your pictures on AM are pretty clear. This weather is so stupid. They said sun in the afternoon. Look for long dark hair. I’m sure you’ll find me even though you haven’t seen my face. As I said, it does match my body, although I’m far from beautiful.

I do have your number. See you at 1. Since I’m coming from River Manor, and I may hit traffic, give me a few minutes grace period, just in case.

XO
C.

da Umberto

When I held his hands cross the table, I loved how masculine they looked. His knuckles were calloused, he said, from the one 100 push-ups he does every morning on the bare wood floor.

Today was wonderful. I am enchanted. You are beautiful. I enjoyed every second of our conversation. I am glad the place was quiet. That kind of solitude is hard to find. As excited as I was to kiss you, I was disappointed it was over. I have been smiling all evening.

I had an adventure getting a cab for my amplifier. I was soaked in sweat by the time I got home.

I am sorry we weren’t able to chat tonight. I don’t know how often we can chat over the weekend. It ended so abruptly. We need to get together soon. Maybe actually go to the Rubin.

Have a great night. Write if you get a chance. A bien tot.

 Big fan of you,

Me

I can’t believe we kissed like that right in the middle of 23th Street with all these people streaming around us, but everything else seemed to have fallen away.

Have you gone to bed? I’m sorry to have missed your chat invite. My sister is staying with me tonight so the girls, she and I hung out. We rarely get to do that since she lives in Montreal.

I'd love to get together soon.

OMG, I keep forgetting to tell you stuff, so have to send another email. I, too, have a big grin on my face, maybe not for the whole afternoon, but definitely for ten blocks after I left you. Then the smile would come and go, but you have been on my mind all evening. I want to kiss you again : ) .
