Almost four years ago, I fell in love for the first time--twenty-five years too late--and began an affair. Over the years, Kevin and I have met several times a week and email several times a day. I have kept almost all of the emails that I sent to him and that he sent to me. Along the way, there has been laughter and tenderness and heat...and heartache.

This blog is the posting of our daily emails. It chronicles the lives of two people over a four year period so far, and tells the story of our burgeoning love against the backdrop of New York City.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent; the rest is 100% real.

The daily update structure helps keep the blog as authentic as possible as well as living up to its title. It also strives to provide the reader with the kind of pleasure that a soap opera offers--a daily dose of voyeuristic fun.

Please begin at the beginning, otherwise, little will make sense.

Enjoy.

Hello my love:

No good-night? I wish you were up so we could IM. How was the BBQ? What did you grill?

My day was all right. Brunch with my niece and baby, and dinner with friends and their kids and my aunt.

I should be home tomorrow at around 7 or 8.

I love you. I wish you'd write me and tell me stuff you do, stuff you think, even if I'm not able to be by the computer as often as usual.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Good morning my love,

I crashed early last night.  We grilled sausages and had corn.  I am a big fan of corn.  The lady we had over for dinner eats every single bit of kernel on the cob.  It is actually disturbing.  She gnaws on it.  She also gnaws on steaks bones.  Some people won't eat with her.  At any rate, she is off on a month long cruise.  Must be nice.

My feet hurt.  They have been bothering me lately.  I don't know what is causing it.  I think it is the sprints.  I am going to ride my bike today and see if taking a day off running helps.  Sore feet are  a big bummer.  They make everything so difficult.  I might go to the gym too.  It is kind of hot.

My mom comes in a few days.  I hope it cools off.  She doesn't tolerate heat well and we don't have an air conditioner.  My wife threw it out two weeks ago.  I  think as an unconscious jab at my mom.  That is how crazy things are between them.  Even if it isn't true I have to think it.

Kids start school tomorrow?  Are they ready?  Do they have all their new clothes and school supplies?  I love you Roya.  Have a safe trip home.  Are we on for the 14th?

Good morning my love:

I love sausages, especially hot ones. You're like Nadi like that, she loves corn too. At least you had grains! I think it isn't a vegetable like most people think, it's a grain, right? I have to confess that my mother and I like to crack chicken bones with our teeth and suck out the marrow. You still love me right? : )  Where is your friend going for her cruise?

I'm concerned about your feet. I too wake up with my feet kind of stiff, and I think it would be so nice to get a foot rub, but they don't hurt per se when I exercise. What part hurts? If we have time, I'll rub them for you next time, but you might have to see a doctor if a part, especially a bony part bothers you.

This air conditioner thing is very odd. My father hated air conditioners and would rather sit and sweat rivulets than use one. It was kind of insane. So, we only had one air conditioner in our house in my mother's bedroom that was connected via a small hallway to my bedroom. So, we were comfortable in the summers at night. My mother was definitely very subservient to my father because of his violent temper but in this she prevailed and got herself an air conditioner.  So, why did your wife throw out the thing if it worked, regardless of your mom? It's a waste of money isn't it? And to make an elderly lady uncomfortable like that isn't nice. You should've yelled at her. I hope the weather will cooperate. It should, it's already September.

Yes, the girls will start school tomorrow. We've done all the school and clothes shopping. You've been the witness through all the emails from stores : ) They've even put all their new school supplies in their new backpacks. I'm looking forward to being alone. These last few days, it's been none stop people, and although fun, it gets to be too much. I'm glad I'm coming home this afternoon. And tomorrow I get to spend at least half of the day by myself. I spent my childhood with a lot of solitude so I like it.  I have to work on the Newsletter again. At least the head of school approved these 2 new things we want to do, which should be fun. I have to write a mission statement on Tuesday, just a paragraph, so it should be fine.

We are definitely on for the 14th. I'll make it work, as you used to say to me. I'll make a massage appointment for 7:30 hopefully. Can you meet at 3?

I love you too Kevin. I've been missing you, more than you know.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Hello HFG,

I am so glad we can do the 14th.  My time with you is the most important time for me.  You are awesome!

The sausage was sweet but was very good.  Corn is a grain, but I don't classify my food.  I try to enjoy what I like.

My feet should be ok.  Today will be a test.  I didn't run.  I am taking my bike out.  If they hurt, then I know it is the bike.  That would be good news since today will be my last ride of the season I think.  I have to put it downstairs since my mom is coming and that is a big production.  Once it goes down it usually stays until summer.  I think it must be the sprinting.  It is probably just a stress thing.  Once I incorporate it regularly it will be fine.  It isn't a bony part.  I think that a ligament is getting irritated.

I should be able to make 3.  I will check my schedule and set that time aside.  It is dependent on the flaky people that work for me.  I am really looking forward to seeing you again.  I love having a beautiful girlfriend.  It is such a treat.  I can just close my eyes and see your pretty face and hot body.  You make me sooooooo happy.  I love you.

I did not know about the air conditioner until it was gone.  It didn't work well.  It is in the music room and doesn't really cool the whole apartment.  It took up a window so we lost a lot of light.  It was very old.  I wish she would have waited until my mom left.  That would have been fine.  Now I have to hope for cool weather.

Hello HFG,

I saw a really great exhibit at the Met today.  It seems to be a secret.  The website makes no reference to it.  There is only one gallery, but the art is amazing.  The paintings include Titian, Bernini and Lotto.  I was stunned.

Hope you are having fun.  Love you.

Hello my love:

Finally home. I'm glad you enjoyed the exhibit. I saw the notice for it when I was getting info on the Tomas Saraceno exhibit. I have to confess I'm not the biggest fan of Renaissance painting. There is also this Iranian exhibit that doesn't really sound interesting. But there is a photography exhibit, Nude Before the Camera that I thought was gone. I really want to see it. It leaves on Sept 9, I think. Did you see any of the other exhibits while you were there?

If you can't sleep well why don't you take Trazodone? It' isn't addictive and it works really well in small amounts like 25-50mgs.

I hope you're sleeping as I type this : ) I love you.

Me.
