Almost four years ago, I fell in love for the first time--twenty-five years too late--and began an affair. Over the years, Kevin and I have met several times a week and email several times a day. I have kept almost all of the emails that I sent to him and that he sent to me. Along the way, there has been laughter and tenderness and heat...and heartache.

This blog is the posting of our daily emails. It chronicles the lives of two people over a four year period so far, and tells the story of our burgeoning love against the backdrop of New York City.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent; the rest is 100% real.

The daily update structure helps keep the blog as authentic as possible as well as living up to its title. It also strives to provide the reader with the kind of pleasure that a soap opera offers--a daily dose of voyeuristic fun.

I am so excited! I get to see you today! The weather may put a damper on our rooftop plans. I will try to find a plan B. What time can we meet? I think the plan was 4:45 at 230 Fifth.

How is your back? Sleeping was never good for my back. Mornings were always rough when it hurt. I would offer a massage, but I know you get professional ones and I don’t think a bar is the right place for that.

Work should be busy today. The time should pass quickly.

The back is still creepy. It’s like shut up already and heal! I too am every excited to see you. So, change of plans. The stupid tutor kept changing times and places on me, so I cancelled their lesson today. One day won’t change anybody’s life. So, I’m dropping them off at my nephew's place on 80th and Lex at 4:30. Then I can meet you where ever you like. Roof top sounds a little risky. I should get them by around 6:30. So, where would you like to go?
