Almost four years ago, I fell in love for the first time--twenty-five years too late--and began an affair. Over the years, Kevin and I have met several times a week and email several times a day. I have kept almost all of the emails that I sent to him and that he sent to me. Along the way, there has been laughter and tenderness and heat...and heartache.

This blog is the posting of our daily emails. It chronicles the lives of two people over a four year period so far, and tells the story of our burgeoning love against the backdrop of New York City.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent; the rest is 100% real.

The daily update structure helps keep the blog as authentic as possible as well as living up to its title. It also strives to provide the reader with the kind of pleasure that a soap opera offers--a daily dose of voyeuristic fun.

I'm sorry the concert wasn't that great. I've always liked her fine, but nothing too crazy.  The Beacon gets surprisingly famous people for its size. How was rehearsal, is your pianist back?

It's going to be so hot this week, but no rain predicted for Friday. Let's hope it stays that way. The Met has this history of nude photography exhibit, which sounds like fun. Also, they've re-arranged their entire Islamic Art collection. There are a lot of beautiful pieces from Iran there.

I think, lunch, hotel, the Met. What do you think? We never make it to our extra-curricular activities though : ) Checking out the Waldorf or the Hilton is a great idea. I'll bring the j, unless you want to. Also, lunch my treat. Let's pick a fun place like places you've picked. The Brasserie served its purpose, and truthfully, I would've eaten in a sty and would've been perfectly happy that day, but why not go somewhere more memorable? I'll look too, if you're short on time.

Hello HFG,

I used to have a major crush on her.  I was a big fan of Fleetwood Mac too.  I like to think I sound a lot like their bass player.

Rehearsal was ok.  The pianist is back.  The guitar player is going to sing a song.  He is very nervous.  It slowed everything down because he got hyperconscious of everything around him and spent a lot of time turning knobs and adjusting things on his guitar.  We are going to try to sneak in an extra rehearsal before the show next week.

This time we need to make the extra-curricular activity so you can have the necessary cover.  Besides, I would love to see Iranian art with you.  I will check out some restaurants.  I will use the list of day rate hotels.  I hope we can find something nice.  I wonder if this is a busy weekend or not.

Did you miss me today? My Internet has been down. Just kidding. I guess I won't let you live that one down for a while : ) Actually, I was out, making myself beautiful for you for Friday. I needed a pedicure which I usually do myself because none of these people do them as well as I do, but given that my back has just healed, I thought I better not bend over so much and for so long, besides, it's really nice when somebody else does the work. So, while I was waiting for the pedi to dry, I let the woman talk me into getting a mani and paint my nails fire engine red for the 4th. Also, we're going to my best friend from high school's house for the day, so I have a good excuse to be uncharacteristically "festive."

How was your day? What are your plans for your day off tomorrow? I wish today were Thursday!

It is about 20 minutes into NJ.  I can't remember the name of the town.  We don't have a car.   A friend is getting a zipcar.  I don't like to drive if I can avoid it.  However, if I am in a car I prefer to drive.  In this case, someone rented a minivan.  It will be a fabulous party.  Actually, it will be weird.  The hostess is English.  Their food is like a dare.  The gay men will no doubt supply all kinds of food too fancy for me.  There will be gallons of wine and plenty of booze.

You are such a tease.  Will you be wearing red lipstick too?
