Almost four years ago, I fell in love for the first time--twenty-five years too late--and began an affair. Over the years, Kevin and I have met several times a week and email several times a day. I have kept almost all of the emails that I sent to him and that he sent to me. Along the way, there has been laughter and tenderness and heat...and heartache.

This blog is the posting of our daily emails. It chronicles the lives of two people over a four year period so far, and tells the story of our burgeoning love against the backdrop of New York City.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent; the rest is 100% real.

The daily update structure helps keep the blog as authentic as possible as well as living up to its title. It also strives to provide the reader with the kind of pleasure that a soap opera offers--a daily dose of voyeuristic fun.

Please begin at the beginning, otherwise, little will make sense.

Enjoy.

Good morning my love:

Are you at work? I wanted to write when I had some info about the check-in time from the hotel, but they still don't know. The woman said she'll call when the room is ready. So, I figure I show up at 1, check in, and if it's not available we can have lunch nearby. There aren't a lot of nice restaurants around, but the one across the street, some kind of Bistro or, the one next door called Island, will do.

The girls are miserable at the soccer camp. A lot of shit has been going down since they were picked up at their last camp. So, I'm afraid you'll have to listen to me about that today, at least for a little while : ) I'm kind of sad. And seeing you does this thing to me of letting go.

I'm really excited to see you.

XOXOXOXO

I wanted us to have plenty of room, so I booked a suite which surprisingly had a kitchenette, which not surprisingly went to waste. We ordered room service from Sarabeth's kitchen next door, sampling their signature velvet tomato soup, and I'm sure something beef or pork as those are Kevin's favorite food groups : ) He and I have had scores of amazing times together in bed, but that afternoon, like the first time we slept together at the Kimberly, wasn't one of them. Perhaps this was because Kevin had received a call from work soon after he  arrived about a glass door having shattered and shed shards all over the conference room and a large swath of the hallway.

Hello HFG,

Quite a mess here.  It is going to take a while to clean up.  I still haven't heard from my boss.

I had a great time this afternoon.  You are fantastic.

Hey:

I hope you've heard from your boss and everything has gotten resolved. We discussed it before, your job expects being a priority; it's like being an obstetrician or a natural disaster relief worker. When it calls, you gotta run. It can interrupt your life which is good that you don't have kids. It interrupted your bank practice, and today us. I'm glad you didn't let it, but you probably should've. I feel it's partly my fault. Hopefully, it will blow over quickly.

XOXOXOXO

Me.
