Almost four years ago, I fell in love for the first time--twenty-five years too late--and began an affair. Over the years, Kevin and I have met several times a week and email several times a day. I have kept almost all of the emails that I sent to him and that he sent to me. Along the way, there has been laughter and tenderness and heat...and heartache.

This blog is the posting of our daily emails. It chronicles the lives of two people over a four year period so far, and tells the story of our burgeoning love against the backdrop of New York City.

The names and addresses have been changed to protect the innocent; the rest is 100% real.

The daily update structure helps keep the blog as authentic as possible as well as living up to its title. It also strives to provide the reader with the kind of pleasure that a soap opera offers--a daily dose of voyeuristic fun.

I was thinking about ta'arof when you mentioned it was your turn and that you would bring everything tomorrow.  It seemed like that might be a case of ta'arof.  It is an excellent word.  Everybody does it, although not to the same extent.  I refuse just about everything offered to me.

I'm counting on you being all over me tomorrow, I sure will be all over you. It has been way way too long. 

I would never ta'arof with you. That's the risk of ta'arof, the person accepts and then you're like, shiiiiiit. But we're too close for that. It was my turn to take care of the hotel, so I figured let me do the rest too, it's easier. Next time your turn. I just don't think it's fair for us to have equal physical and emotional satisfaction but you have a bigger financial burden. Although, I do let you pay in restaurants. You are a generous man, and that's another thing I like about you. I can't stand cheap men. But it isn't about the actual money, it's about the attitude. 

I have so much crap to do today. For one thing, I have to clean the living room, because the kids' math tutor is coming to have a strategy chat before the school starts. Everybody at this school has a math tutor, because they teach material that's suitable for older kids. They're idiots.

I cannot wait to see you. First no talking, just some touching which includes kissing too, then we can talk. What time can you meet?

I can be there at about 1.  What time are you arriving?  No talking, just touching, lots and lots of touching and kissing.  I want to undress you.  

I have a lot of crap to do today too.  I am not in the mood.  Vacations are great until they are over.  Then they suck, especially long ones.  I will probably spend most of the day thinking about your hot body and how I will get my hands on it tomorrow.

I have to type on my tiny phone screen. I talked to the hotel. All the rooms are booked tonight, so they will try for early check in but can't guarantee it. I can certainly get there at 1. I was hoping we could get room service, but if we can't guarantee check in until 2 or 3, we'll have a chaste lunch at a nearby restaurant. And talk first :)

I know what you mean. It's been an annoying day all around for me too. I can't wait until tomorrow. So, I figure I'll call the hotel around 12 and find out what's up. If we can check in at 1, we'll go and order room service, but let me get there, check in then text you the room number. If we can't check in until 2 or 3, then we can meet anywhere and have lunch. Fucking is always better than talking. Sometimes, you have to talk before you fuck though, but not in our case, not tomorrow : ) unless life makes us.
